John Raymond (D.Min., M.A., M.S., L.P.C., L.C.M.H.C.)
Dr. John Raymond is a licensed professional counselor in Virginia and North Carolina and works with his wife in private practice.
Dr. Raymond earned a Master of Arts in counseling from Regent University and a Master of Science in psychology with a specialty in health from Walden University. In addition, he earned a Doctor of Ministry in leadership and spiritual formation from Portland Seminary. Dr. Raymond also completed the AWKNG School of Theology 2 year Certificate of Biblical Studies.
In addition to providing daily counseling/mentoring, he’s been working with New Life Live's Everyman's Battle conferences for over 13 years. Dr. Raymond also assists with other NewLife conferences such as How We Love.
Dr. Raymond’s lens is through the interconnectedness of freedom and responsibility. He is interested in several topics such as the subtle influences of secular humanism within the church, the Fourth Gospel, and our responses to the invitations of the Holy Spirit. His DMin dissertation focused on helping husbands married to women who were sexually abused as a child.
Dr. Raymond's teaching experience includes teaching unconventional warfare with the US Army Special Forces, undergraduate psych 101, and a group facilitator for a graduate seminary counseling class. In addition, he has been a guest speaker at universities and churches on topics such as the business of counseling, grief, suicide, and nutritional implications in mental health.
John lives in a log home in the northern Shenandoah Valley he and his wife built. He enjoys time with his two adult daughters’ families including his two granddaughters. In addition, he enjoys windsurfing and kayak fishing on Knotts Island Bay in North Carolina.
