Dr. Andrew Talbert (Ph.D.)
Dr. Talbert completed his bachelor's degree in German language at the University of Florida, his Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, and his PhD in Theology (with a focus on hermeneutics, reception aesthetics, and 2 Thessalonians) at the University of Nottingham under Prof. Anthony Thiselton.
Dr. Talbert grew up in the Presbyterian Church and was ordained a deacon in the PCUSA, continuing this affiliation with Presbyterianism when he pursued ordination with ECO. Currently, he identifies with the Anglican (ACNA) tradition and is pursuing ordination to the diaconate. His background is broadly Reformed, evangelical, and ecumenical.
His first involvement in a ministerial role was as a deacon in the PCUSA. During seminary, he was a Children’s Ministry Director at a German-speaking Methodist Church with responsibilities over every aspect of that ministry (e.g., curriculum, instruction, events, communication, etc.). For years he has served as a guest preacher and a Sunday school teacher at churches in the US, the UK, and Indonesia.
In addition to teaching at various levels within the church, Dr. Talbert has taught at the university and seminary level for five years (three of those in a full-time capacity), as well as having been a teaching assistant and a course facilitator for several additional years. He has taught in the Classical Christian movement for six years with courses focused in the humanities (theology, biblical studies, Greek, history, and rhetoric), with a particular affinity for Greek, biblical studies, biblical theology, church history, sacramental theology, and Thomas Aquinas.
